While traveling in the the Far North of New Zealand Bryan Bruce met Ruben Porter who has come up with his own solution to solving New Zealand’s affordable housing problem.
It’s called the Whare Uku or a house made out of the earth. With the assistance of the University of Auckland’s engineering department Rueben is building homes using rammed earth construction and locally milled timber.
But as Bryan discovered, Rueben’s not doing it just for himself but to help others…
